Laura Fako Utley has been playing the harp since 1977. She grew up in a musical family in Elmhurst, IL. Both of her parents are professional musicians. Her father played with the Lyric Opera Orchestra of Chicago and her mother is a former member of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. Laura was enrolled in a summer music program at the Interlochen Center for the Arts and immediately chose to play the harp.

In 1990, she received her degree in Music Performance from the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University. Laura currently performs and teaches throughout the Chicagoland area playing with orchestras, small chamber ensembles, for weddings, receptions and special occasions.

In 1997, Laura produced her first recording called "Whispering Dreams" which consists of classical transcriptions and Laura's own original compositions. It also features two of Laura's sisters performing the violin and the oboe. In 2002, Laura produced her Christmas recording called "Silent Night." Tapes and compact discs are only available through Laura.

Laura also performs at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL as part of their Healing Arts Program.
